When I first heard MTV was making a TV show based on the Michael J. Fox “Teen Wolf” movie, it wasn’t news that thrilled me. Like many, I enjoyed the heck out the first one when I was younger.
However, after seeing the show, I now realize I had absolutely nothing to worry about. The show has so little to do with the movie (or the Jason Bateman-starring sequel), that the only thing it can sully is the movie’s title. In fact, MTV’s “Teen Wolf” might as well have been called “I Was a Teenage Werewolf” for all it has in common with the movie.
Instead, the TV show more closely resembles a movie series like “Twilight” or a TV show like “The Vampire Diaries” in its tone. It isn’t the fun, carefree look at being a werewolf that the movies generally were — instead it’s all quite angsty. Also, it looks pretty terrible.
The show stars the charisma-free Tyler Posey as Scott McCall, a teen who is bitten by a werewolf.
Yes, Scott is a teen. And, sure, he’s also a werewolf. But from the looks of it, he’s Teen Wolf in name only.
“Teen Wolf” will premiere June 5 at approximately 11 p.m. EST, following the 2011 MTV Movie Awards.

This show looks absolutely wretched. Shows like this prevail while shows like Stargate Universe get canceled. 🙁
