With the fourth and (reportedly) final chapter in the “Shrek” saga now on Blu-Ray and DVD, we have the first teaser trailer for the upcoming spin-off movie featuring one of the beloved characters from the series “Puss in Boots.”
Puss was an addition to the highly-successful franchise in the second film and he has grown in popularity over the years. The cat is voiced by Antonio Banderas, who, in my opinion, was the best possible choice for this lovable character. Originally set to be a direct-to-dvd movie, DreamWorks Pictures Animation decided to push it into theaters — and in 3D no less.
“Puss in Boots” goes back and shows us his journey and introduces us to a slew of new characters that crossed paths with this cat before he became acquainted with Shrek and friends.
Knowing how to cater to the fans, this quick, but fun and energetic shows that they just may have gotten it right here, reminding us of the character we love and forcing us to wait until its November release.
It’s way too early to judge this film based off this teaser, but I believe that if it’s done right and stays away from too many similarities to “Shrek,” they can have a successful spin-off in “Puss in Boots.”
So, are you a fan of this character and does it interest you to see his story, or do you have another character that you would rather see get their own spin-off movie? Sound off in the comments and let me know!
“Puss in Boots” opens Nov. 4 in 2D and 3D theaters everywhere. The film also stars Salma Hayek, Zach Galifianakis, Walt Dohrn and Zeus Mendoza.
