When I first heard of “Kick-Ass,” I didn’t know if this was a spoof, a parody or a serious super-hero movie. Then I saw the posters and the trailers, and realized this wasn’t any of those … yet, at the same time, it was all of those.
I was not familiar with the comic book, written by Mark Miller, from which this is movie is based on, but I have developed great interest for this project since.
Here is the plot description if you haven’t heard it yet, or seen the trailer: Dave Lizewski is an unnoticed high school student and comic book fan who one day decides to become a super-hero, even though he has no powers, training or meaningful reason to do so.
There is so much going in this story: the origin of Kick-Ass (Aaron Johnson): the Big Daddy (Nicholas Cage) and Hit Girl (Chloe Moretz) story; the gangster-villians; and the comic relief of Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse).
The first and second trailer for “Kick-Ass” were very funny, and the red band trailer was even better. Actually, it was after seeing the red band trailer that they pocketed me and my interest.
In the two short clips below, we get a morsel of the humor of the movie, yet they are minimal on spoilers.
In the first clip, we see the familiar scene of the superhero suiting up for the first time and possing in front of the mirror as he preps himself for his new identity. It’s a great scene and it goes well with the movie’s tag-line: I can’t fly. But I can kick your ass.
In the second clip, Kick-Ass and Red Mist take are cruising around town in Red Mist’s suped-up car.
“Kick-Ass” opens on April 16.

This movie looks insane. I absolutely cannot wait. A movie with McLovin, Nicolas Cage dressed like Batman and a knife-wielding, foul-mouthed 12-year-old sounds like a winner to me.
I can’t wait. The buzz on this one is through-the-roof.
When I first heard about Kick-Ass, I thought it was going to be another awful parody. But like you said Josue when trailers especially Red Band one came out, I laughed so hard and now I am looking forward to seeing it in theaters. It is because of the story and characters especially the foul-mouthed Hit Girl(played by Chloe Moretz) is hysterical and she can seriously kick some butt. Also Nicolas Cage looks good in it as well as McLovin himself, Christopher Mintz-Plasse. I am really excited about this film. Great job on article, Josue. =)

Definitely sounds Kick-Ass. I’m gonna look out for this one. It’s gonna be big enough that it will probably open in a town near where I live. Great job Josue, you really captured the essence of the clips.
