Two More Added to ‘Thor’

— by SEAN GERSKI —

Aside from Natalie Portman (arguably), the makers of the forthcoming “Thor” movie aren’t exactly banking on marquee names.

Jessica Biel had been rumored to be up for a lead role, but the part she was said to be slotted for, Sif, has gone to Jaimie Alexander. Sif is an Asgardian warrior and one of the love interests for Thor.

Also joining the cast is Colm Feore, who will be playing a yet-to-be-disclosed villain.

Already on board director Kenneth Branaugh’s adaptation of the Marvel Comics characters are: Chris Hemsworth, as Thor; Tom Hiddleston, as Loki; Brian Blessed, as Odin; and Portman as Jane Foster, another of Thor’s love interests.

Here is a description of the movie (courtesy of the Hollywood Reporter): The ‘Thor’ movie spans the Marvel Universe; from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard.
At the center of the story is The Mighty Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war.
Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans as punishment.
Once here, Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.

“Thor” has hammered out a release date of May 20, 2011.

Branaugh shouldn’t be wasting his time on this.
