A Clip from ‘The Next Three Days’

— by AMANDA KOEHLER —

John Brennan (Russell Crowe) has a wife (Elizabeth Banks) in jail for a murder she didn’t commit. Three years into her sentence, Laura can’t take it anymore, and John is worried for her mental health. He’s decided the only thing left for him to do is to break Laura out of jail. With the help of an escaped convict named Damon (Liam Neeson), John devises a plan. “The Next Three Days,” directed by Paul Haggis (“Crash”), is based on a 2007 French film.

In this clip, Damon gives John some pointers on how to break into the prison. “No prison in the world is air tight,” Damon explains. “Each one has a key. You just have to know where to find it.” Damon says to have enough money to last 5-6 years, to get fake IDs and to head to another state to get to an airport. And if John can’t get out of the prison within 35 minutes, he might as well surrender, because the cops will shoot, Damon says. “Ask yourself if you can do it. If you can’t, don’t start, because you’ll just get yourself killed.”

“The Next Three Days” breaks into theaters on Nov. 19.

It will be interesting to see Elizabeth Banks in this kind of role.
