Gwyneth Paltrow will appear on Fox’s” hit show “Glee” tonight and I, for one, was totally shocked when I first saw the video of her singing “Forget You” by Cee-Lo Green with all of the kids in the ”New Directions” glee club. They are really getting her to step outside the box and show her range in a variety of songs, including a duet with Lea Michelle of “Nowadays/Hot Honey Rag” from the hit Broadway musical “Chicago” and a mash-up with Mr. Shue (Matthew Morrison) of “Singin’ in the Rain” and “Umbrella” from Rhianna. She is truly proving to be a miraculous singer on top of her already impressive résumé.
Fox has already released a few clips from this new episode. First we get to see Gwyneth Paltrow’s character, Holly Holiday, working with the glee club and showing them she has what it takes to instruct them when she sings “Forget You.” It’s such a fun clip to watch and Gwyneth brings a great energy to the role — slightly provocative and at the same time innocent and confident. Being a fan of the show since day one, I was a bit hesitant when I heard she was going to be singing on it, but I think she actually pulls it off and has a surprisingly good voice. Plus, it’s nice to see a whole new side to her.
The second clip is a more behind the scenes. We get to see most of the cast talking about working with Paltrow and also the making of the “Singin’ in the Rain/ Umbrella” mash-up scene. I’m excited for this scene as it does look like it was fun to shoot and on top of that we have Matthew Morrison, who was a star on Broadway, complementing her voice, which I think is a huge testament to her full potential as a singer. All we hear is praise from the entire cast and the director as well, so if they are all impressed with her talent I’m sure we all will be too.
So what do you think? Are you a fan of Gwyneth Paltrow or “Glee” and do you think this is a good fit for her? Also, does seeing her sing on a fun show like “Glee” before her movie “Country Strong” is released make you want to see it more or less? Sound off in the comments section and let us know what you think!
