It appears that Aquaman could soon be making some waves in the world of DVD, starting in the upcoming “Justice League: Crisis On Two Earths” DTV — with that movie’s co-director, Lauren Montgomery, recently letting slip that not only was The King Of The Seven Seas her favorite superhero, but he also would make a cameo appearance in the film.
It is also no big secret the “Crisis” blu-ray will include the CW’s unaired pilot to the “Aquaman” series (called “Mercy Reef”). This move marks the first time that a live action “bonus episode” has been included as part of any DC UNIVERSE releases’ special features. It’s a great way to introduce the character to a wider audience – – and whet their appetite for more. But does Warner Bros. Animation have anything else planned for Aquaman?
There are rumors that Aquaman could head to DVD with some help from Adam Green, the writer/director behind the horror film “Hatchet” and the chilling survival thriller “Frozen.” Green previously spoke to fearnet.com about his “Aquaman” project:
“I went in on a general meeting with the D.C. guys and they mentioned how they are going to be making a new slate of animated movies about their characters, And I mentioned this storyline that I had for a cool Aquaman movie that was really scary and dark. And then they asked me to come back and tell them the full story. So I did. And they literally bought it in the room — and since summer, I have been working on writing this animated Aquaman movie — tentatively called AQUAMAN: HERO OF ATLANTIS.”
He went on to add, “The film actually pits Aquaman and Ocean Master TOGETHER fighting against THE KORDAX (a giant Kraken-like / Cloverfield-like monster). It’s PG-13 so they are letting me get away with a lot more than what you would normally get in a Justice League animated feature.”
If this project ever comes to fruition, it sounds like it would be a huge departure from the Aquaman that occasionally teams up with Batman on the kid friendly TV show “The Brave & The Bold.”
As of now, “Aquaman: Hero Of Atlantis” is not currently on the studio’s production slate, but there remains the possibility of the movie going into production for a 2011/ 2012 release.

Fa-bu-louusss!!!
I’m glad to see Aquaman getting some play.
it would be interesting if aquaman does get a live action film soon. he was good in justice league, a bit goofy in brave and the bold cartoon. was a good character in smallville. The aquaman spin off pilot was well done. Though i doubt aquaman will happen any time soon. I think we would see flash/ww prior to aquaman on the big screen.
but an animated DTV is a good start^
Aquaman has a lot of potential. I’m excited about the DTV and I agree that a live action movie holds a lot of promise.
totally its all about the take you have on the character and if you treat him as a serious character and not a parody like superfriends did.
Aquaman has a lot of untapped potential.
I hope they do end up making the animated movie.
This would be so wonderful!..
