What do you get after a night of heavy drinking in a hot tub? In the world of “Hot Tub Time Machine,” it’s a trip back to 1986.
In this comedy from “Accepted” director Steve Pink, four friends are tired of dealing with their underwhelming lives. Adam (John Cusack) and Nick (Craig Robinson) are having problems with the women in their lives, Jacob (Clark Duke) plays video games all day and Lou (Rob Corddry) just wants to party like he did in his heyday.
The guys decide to reconnect with their past by visiting the ski resort where they used to party in the 1980s. But they get more than they bargained for when the magical Jacuzzi in the back yard transports them back to 1986, where they can literally relive their past.
This movie looks like a typical crazy raunch comedy, but I have to admit, I think it looks like fun. It has a great cast in its favor, but the fact that two of the screenwriters are the minds behind “Sex Drive” and “She’s Out of My League” could drag the movie down.
Also starring Chevy Chase, “Hot Tub Time Machine” travels to theaters March 26.
