Four Clips from: ‘Did You Hear About the Morgans?’

Marc Lawrence is the writer/director of this comedy. He also was the writer of “Miss Congeniality,” a movie I didn’t care for. This time, he tries his luck by taking Sarah Jessica Parker and Hugh Grant and sticking them into a setting in which they are the most unfamiliar.

Grant plays Paul Morgan, while Parker plays Meryl. These two had almost perfect lives; their only failure being that their marriage is on the rocks. After they witness a murder and become the targets of a contract killer, they are forced into the witness protection program. With that, they are tossed into a small town in Wyoming, the pace of their lives slows down, and they try to rekindle the passion with some over-the-top comedy and a Sarah Palin joke, as well.

This first clip gets right to that Sarah Palin joke with some other trying-to-be funny comedy mixed in. They meet Deputy Emma Wheeler (Mary Steenburgen) and have an awkward discussion about animals.

The second clip shows them as they’re somewhat distraught, after what they witnessed, while getting shown to their bodyguards for the night.

The third clip, which finds Paul trying to figure out what gift to get Meryl, is a clip I found quite amusing.

The last one is also quite funny as Adam (Jesse Liebman) breaks the rules and Jackie (Elisabeth Moss) tasers him in an act of self defense. I don’t really know what relation these two have to the film as they just seemed to have found their way into this clip.

Overall, after seeing these clips, I definitely think this movie has more potential than I thought when I wrote the Poster Peek for this movie. It also is being advertised well, as I went to New York City the other day and ran across a mural of the poster on the side of a fairly large building. This film will get the crowd the first couple of weeks but will it hold up? This film is also going up against the giant “Avatar,” as they are both being released Dec. 18.
