Short Film Theater: ‘Logorama’

— by KATHLEEN COLLINS —

I have watched this short film twice and I was blown away each time.

It is undeniably brilliant. The sound is fantastic, the animation is amazing and it’s just plain fun to watch.

The film was directed by the French animation collective H5, François Alaux, Hervé de Crécy + Ludovic Houplain. It was presented at the Cannes Film Festival 2009, it opened the 2010 Sundance Film Festival and it won the 2010 Academy Award for best animated short.

I don’t want to give away anything here because discovering what happens is a big part of the fun. Everyone who watches it will take away different things from viewing it.

It is definitely not safe for work, though. The language gets pretty rough at times.

I second that “wow”. That was thoroughly entertaining and I brilliant is a fair description. I was too busy just enjoying the ride the first time around to think much about deeper meaning here besides the obvious social commentary on capitalism. A much-deserved academy award IMO. Definitely worthy of multiple viewings.

I’m sitting in my favorite coffee house watching this and the people around me ended up behind me watching it with me. WE all agree that it was awesome! Definitely worth watching!

Fantastic, nightmarish vision, America on crack drowning in overabundance of crap.
