As the “Twilight” Saga comes to an end, the film’s cast must spread beyond the borders of Stephenie Meyer’s characters and establish themselves as true adult actors in the entertainment business.
While Robert Pattinson will be starring alongside Reese Witherspoon in “Water for Elephants” this month, he has also signed on to play Erik Packer in 2012’s “Cosmopolis.” Kristen Stewart has already donned the rocker mantle as Joan Jett in 2010’s “The Runaways” and will play the lead in Rupert Sanders’ “Snow White and the Huntsman” next year.
The final piece of the Twilight Sagas love triangle is Taylor Lautner. His first starring role in a movie since his fame skyrocketed from being in “Twilight” is an action thriller called “Abduction.” Due to hit theaters Sept. 23, “Abduction” is a thriller about a young man who recognizes his baby picture on a missing person’s website and comes to realize the couple who raised him aren’t actually his parents. As he goes on the search for the truth he figures out quite quickly that nothing is as it seems.
Watch the trailer first and then we can discuss it.
So what did you think? It’s impressive how they have edited the footage together in the trailer to make this seem like a fast-paced action film. It is easy to say that his physical training and stunt work on the “Twilight” films have come to serve him well as he moves into other projects. I did see some similarities to a made-for-TV movie called “The Face on the Milk Carton” but aside from that, this first trailer does get one thinking about what you would do to uncover the truth if you found out your life was a lie.
The biggest thing going for this film are Lautner’s co-stars: Lily Collins, Alfred Molina, Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs and Maria Bello. I would go to see this movie just based on the supporting cast, but overall this movie looks like a teen version of the “Bourne” series … and I am ok with that. As long as the story stays fresh and original, the action is genuine and it isn’t totally predictable then I will go see this. I will give Lautner a chance to showcase his acting chops outside of being “Jacob Black.”
So what is your verdict? Is this just a film for the “twi-hards” or do you think that Taylor Lautner has potential beyond the lovesick pup he plays in the Twilight Saga? Leave us a comment and let us know.

Wow, I am seriously impressed with how this movie looks. In Twilight I think of him as nothing more then eye candy for the teenager girls, but this looks like it could be a genuinely good action movie.
