Trailer Talk: ‘Expecting Mary’

— by JOSUE SANCHEZ —

I love movies. They provide such a freedom to explore other people’s lives and trials while in the comfort and safety of your own home (or in a theater). There are subjects that trouble so many — subjects of struggle and desperation — and when they are touched upon in movies, they can be funny, they can be educational and they can be real.

Movies like “Expecting Mary” contain real subject matters that may be haunting some young person at this very moment. Movies like “Expecting Mary” can be a breath of fresh air for those in similar situations, and an inspiration to the rest.

I am really digging this trailer for “Expecting Mary” (embedded below). It has a “Juno” meets “Doc Hollywood” meets “Little Miss Sunshine” feel to it that I’m really excited about.

If you haven’t heard about it yet, here is the official description: “Expecting Mary” is the story of a young girl who’s had all the trappings of an upscale life, but it’s only when she finds herself in a small New Mexico town, in a downtrodden trailer park, that she learns the real meaning of love, sacrifice and family.

It stars the beautiful Olesya Rulin as Mary … the very pregnant Mary. And the best about the film is the amazing co-stars they have assembled: Elliott Gould, Linda Gray, Lainie Kazan, Cloris Leachman, Della Reese, Cybill Shepherd and Gene Simmons, to mention a few.

I am anxiously looking forward to its release date sometime in 2010 (it has enjoyed a limited release in some spots already).

So check out the trailer or the movie and give us some feedback on your thoughts.
