Trailer Talk: ‘Love & Distrust’

— by ALEXA MILAN —

Star power isn’t everything, and “Love & Distrust,” unfortunately, might be the perfect movie to prove that.

The film tells intertwining stories a la “Love Actually” of people searching for love and happiness. A waitress (Amy Adams), a businessman (James Franco) and a hormonal teenager (Robert Pattinson) are just a few of the people hoping to find that someone special in this tale of what love really means and how connections often form in unlikely places.

There’s no denying the cast is pretty amazing. In addition to Adams, Franco and Pattinson, the movie also stars Sam Worthington, Michael Imperioli and Robert Downey Jr. The cast alone is enough to make me curious, but I’m always hesitant of movies like this that boast a cast full of big names but go straight to DVD. It makes me wonder what was missing, what made the studios pass on it. Maybe I’ll add it to my Netflix queue and be pleasantly surprised, or maybe it will be another case of a project with potential gone wrong.

“Love & Distrust” is available on DVD Nov. 2.

Yeah it does seem a bit ambiguitive. Plus the trailer really tells you nothing specific about the film.I will probably rent it if I see it in a RedBox.

I’m a huge Amy Adams fan. So I am all over the place when it comes to doing research on her and of her work. I pretty much know any time she sneezes and I have to tell you, I have never heard of this movie till just a few days ago when I saw it available for “Save” on Netflix. I have no clue where this movie came from. It was a total shock.

In my opinion this looks like something produced by one of those actors, maybe. It looks very low budget and amateurish. It could be a decent movie we’ll never know till we watch it. I’ll mos def will see it.

    Thanks for posting this trailer.

I’ll see it for the cast alone.

If it has this cast and they are hiding it, it must be terrible.

I think that this is actually a collection of shorts. Summer House has been available on itunes for a month or so and clips have been on youtube before that.

One of the worst movies I’ve seen. Ranks with Hydra.

I was NOT impressed with this movie at all! Thankfully I “Redboxed it” and only paid a dollar to watch it. It was by far, one of the worst movies that I have ever watched. I thought, that with the cast, it would be a great movie. Instead, it was a cornucopia of chaos! Better luck next time producers!
