Quick! What do an astronaut, an Iraq-based American G.I., a Civil War soldier and a smoking hot brunette in a corset have in common?
Give up?
Actually, I don’t really know either, but all of them factor heavily into the visually alluring new trailer for “Love,” a meditative sci-fi epic which meshes together gorgeous high-def imagery and the melodies of Angels & Airwaves — the musical group fronted by Blink 182 guitarist Tom Delonge.
Helmed by William Eubank — a noted cinematographer making his directorial debut — and commissioned by the band itself, “Love” follows an isolated astronaut working on the International Space Station who, after losing contact with Earth, fights to gain hold of his sanity after making a surprising discovery. Enigmatic, much?
Although the clip occasionally feels a little bit like a prettied-up Sprint Mobility commercial, and Angels & Airwaves aren’t exactly anywhere near my playlist, there’s a genuinely dreamlike beauty to the arresting images — not to mention heavy Kubrick-ian overtones — that make me somewhat eager to track it down and uncover its mysteries for myself.
“Love” is currently rumored to be soaring towards a Valentine’s Day 2010 release window, but given its independent, low-budget origins, and no-doubt limited market appeal, that date is likely far from concrete.
Still, it may just be worth waiting for.

I am actually interested in this project.
Wow, intriguing and catching my interest.
But “Film by Angels and Airwaves” isn’t selling it to me…
is this the new trailer for “Dirty Jobs?”
