Ticking clock, dragon on her back, violence, screaming, bandaged … Nov. 25. That’s all we need to know.
By this time, these filmmakers know that all the promo they need is some hardcore music and the date. No fiction book, except for those in the Harry Potter series, has sold more copies in the history of mankind than Stieg Larsson’s “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” the first in Larsson’s Millennium Trilogy.
Produced in Sweden, the films based on Larsson’s three books have broken box office records throughout Europe.
From her introduction in “Dragon,” and her subsequent focus in “The Girl Who Played with Fire,” Lisbeth Salander, as gut-wrenchingly played by Noomi Rapace, has rattled the doors of our imaginations and challenged our perspectives of social realities. Now, in the third and apparently last incarnation of our black-haired nymph’s adventures, “The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest,” the trailer promises some answers.
From a child to what she has become, the trailer hints that we’ll get to know a little more about Salander’s hidden past. Perhaps identified in this film as less Asperberger-like and more just plain dissociative, Lisbeth avoids her emotions, focusing on logic, reason and … revenge.
Is it possible for Salander to ever know happiness? Is she destined to be hunted and hated for the rest of her life? Will she always see injustice and seek vigilante means to aright the world?
Like a moth to a flame…
In her, what is reflected about us? Why are we attracted? Why do we identify with such an idiosyncratic character, a Job besought on every side by absurdly violent threats of imminent destruction?
What is the mesmerizing force bringing readers to these books – sacrificing worknight sleep to read one more page?
The trailer gives nothing away in this finale to Larsson’s last book in the trilogy. The soundtrack mix of percussion, repetitive violins, cymbols and sound effects crescendos in both worried mystery and excited expectancy.
If you’ve read all three books in the trilogy no trailer is needed. Just the date. Nov. 25, 2010. As the narrator intones, “The un-missable final chapter of the most talked about cinematic event is finally here.”

This was an excellent preview of a movie that is sure to be astounding. I had one small nitpic. These novels (and the Harry Potter novels) are fiction, not nonfiction. 🙂
I’ve never read the books or seen the other two movies, I probably will catch up eventually but this movie doesn’t interest me right now without having seen the others.
Loved the first film but the sequel felt like a monotonous, soapy TV movie-of-the-week (Which it kinda was…) Hopefully this one is more like the former than the latter.
