From the producers of “Shaun of the Dead” and “Hot Fuzz,” “Attack the Block” follows a gang of tough inner-city kids who try to defend their turf against an invasion of savage alien creatures, turning a South London apartment complex into an extraterrestrial war zone.
“Attack the Block” opened in theaters on July 29 in the following seven markets: Los Angeles, New York, Seattle, Chicago, Austin, San Francisco, and Toronto. On Aug. 19, the film will expand to six additional markets: Boston, Orlando, Atlanta, Dallas, Washington, D.C. and a sixth market that will be chosen by the fans.
Fans can vote on Attack the Block’s official Facebook page for their city to be the chosen 15th market in which the film will open on Aug. 19. The cities up for consideration are: Cleveland, Philadelphia, Detroit, Miami, Houston, Phoenix, San Diego, Denver, Portland and Minneapolis. Results will be posted on the movie’s Facebook page after voting has closed on Aug. 5 at noon PST.
“Attack the Block” stars Jodie Whittaker, John Boyega, Alex Esmail, Franz Drameh, Leeon Jones, Simon Howard, Luke Treadaway, Jumayn Hunter, and Nick Frost. It was written and directed by Joe Cornish, and produced by Nira Park and James Wilson. Executive producers were Matthew Justice, Tessa Ross, Jenny Borgars, Will Clarke, Olivier Courson and Edgar Wright. This film has been rated R by the MPAA for the following reasons: creature violence, drug content and pervasive language.
