World War Z: Official Trailer

Based on the novel of the same name written by Max Brooks, “World War Z” is a post-apocalyptic horror film directed by Marc Forster. The film stars Brad Pitt as a United Nations worker named Gerry Lane who is charged with scouring the world for information that can possibly stop a zombie outbreak that is quickly taking down nations.

It’s a normal day in the city where a family is stuck in traffic and as they find ways to entertain themselves and kill some time in the monotony of it all, strange things begin to happen. This is when Gerry (Pitt) and his family are initially made aware of the global terror and Gerry must leave his family to find the necessary answers to save the human race we know and recognize.

Unlike many of the other zombie films that have graced small and large screens alike, the zombies in World War Z move in abnormally fast speeds and numbers. Apart from the fact that zombies and Gerry Lane, we are not introduced much else in the initial trailer. Origins of the zombie outbreak are so far unknown and difficult to discern from this trailer and whether there are limitations to the zombie abilities. We just know that Gerry is the man most qualified for the job but we don’t know why exactly that is.

The film also stars Mireille Enos as Lane’s wife and mother to their two children and James Badge Dale as Captain Seke, an American soldier who tries to warn the government of a zombie threat. As we can tell from the trailer, no one heeds his warnings and the zombie outbreak is already out of control before anyone can prevent it from happening. Graphics in this short trailer indicate a heavy employment of CGI and other special effects.

Initially slated for a Dec. 21, 2012, release date, re-shooting of scenes as well as rewriting of scenes caused some setbacks and the release date was pushed back to June 21, 2013.

From the title and your great explanation of the crazy zombie plot I was surprised to be so revitted by the trailer. But I was curious, because Pitt has turned into a very thoughtful film chooser – so I was wondering why he chose this. The trailer just grabs out and pulls you in. Thanks for preview.
