It has been very quiet on the “Man of Steel” news the past couple of weeks. I have seen is a LOT of interviews from Michael Shannon, but now a quite interesting rumored climax of the Superman reboot has popped up.
Cosmic Book News was tipped off to the movie’s climax and while this is just a rumor for now — be aware that it could contain some potential spoilers.
So basically the climax might be: General Zod and Faora having a showdown with Superman that happens right after Zod has figured out Superman’s identity and it will result in Zod making an attack on the Kent farm. That incident will anger Superman, leading to a battle against Zod and Faora (who have both left the US Armed Forces in ruins) in the downtown of his hometown, Smallville. Also Colonel Hardy (Christopher Meloni) will be featured as a “Superman hater” and is skeptical of the superhero.
I will basically back up with the same response as the writer at CBN did, by saying that the photos that we have seen of the shootings from Plano, Ill., which will be Smallville, support the rumor a bit and I wouldn’t be surprised to see if this would actually be the climax.
On the other hand, while the script itself and all we know about the story so far, has been left up in the air – anything could happen, and since this is something that Christopher Nolan (the most secretive filmmaker there is) is involved with, I think we should perhaps rethink for just a second because when it comes to endings of a Nolan film, don’t expect the obvious right away. He can always surprise you.
