‘Yogi Bear’ Movie Has Its Ranger Smith

This is a case where I’m not going to let the fact that I don’t care about a project ruin what I feel is a great piece of casting.

Variety is reporting that Tom Cavanagh has been cast as Ranger Smith in the “Yogi Bear” movie being developed by Warner Bros.

According to Variety, Cavanagh — best known for his TV work on “Ed” and “Scrubs” — will portray “the male lead and romantic interest of a documentary filmmaker (Anna Faris) who comes to Jellystone Park to shoot a film.”

As we previously reported, Dan Aykroyd is voicing the title bear and Justin Timberlake is giving voice to Boo Boo.

Personally, I don’t understand whey they feel the need to get “name” actors to voice the bears. I would much rather have them use voice actors who can match the voices we already know.

Not that I intend to actually watch the movie anyway.

“Yogi Bear” movie, a blend of live action and computer-generated animation pic, currently is shooting in New Zealand.

Cool! I love Tom Cavanagh. Loved Ed and whenever he was in Scrubs. Still not gonna see the film but would be great if Tom gets the fame from this he deserves.
